Sum up your creative process in one word/phrase, and explain why.

Full of color and raw energy!

Everyday to me is an adventure and I am constantly challenged artistically. My style is expressed powerfully through vibrant colors and mostly done with my fingers. The stroke of my fingers hitting the canvas sometimes feels like a love affair and what forms before my eyes is something that I cannot control or script. When I put the paint on my hands, as it collides with my chemistry, in that very moment it feels like I’ve tapped into a higher level of energy and the color becomes alive. Color is LIFE to me. It has become my place where the limits are endless. As many times I explore I find color always surprises me and allows the art to go to a place where its life holds much more substance.

Were you always an artist, even as a child? What was your path to becoming an artist?

My cousin Maria has been the most influential artist for me and still continues to do so today. From a very young age she was the one who placed a canvas in front of me and said, “paint what you see, what you feel, it is your world, you own it. Since then I haven’t stopped. She opened my eyes to a world that I fell in love with. She taught me how to explore the elements of who I am as an individual and I adore her for that.

I also feel blessed and grateful to God for my supportive family for believing in me and my work. Coming from a traditional Greek family, they push me to follow my dreams and to let myself be influenced by our rich Greek culture. My life has transformed into an amazing journey. It’s a beautiful feeling when career and passion collide.

What is your medium of choice and what drew you to this particular medium?

My technique is realised through a broad range of styles – from gouache to acrylic, pastels, markers and collage. I think it all depends what I’m in the mood for in that moment. As of now, my passion for pallet is acrylic paints, because I like using my fingers often, it allows me to enjoy exploring the different textures when I am being spontaneous with my creative process.

Is there any particular experience, person, place, or thing that inspires you to create? Tell us about that.

I dream of art when I’m sleeping and when I am awake I see it all around me. My inspiration is fuelled by everyday life experiences, by living in the moment, constantly moving and evolving. I capture what I see, feel, think, sort of like a diary, they are my creative scribbles that represent my life, my energy, my soul, my love.

For example, I was waiting for the subway on this rainy night and as I stood there, the rain was leaking from the ceiling. As I gazed upon the platform I noticed the water had created a puddle, but this puddle was not your ordinary puddle it was a beautiful form that looked like bodies of people and it just kept creating itself as the water would flow onto the uneven pavement. I thought how amazing it was! I had envisioned a temporary art installation made of water, right before my eyes. I guess I have a unique way of seeing things that are beautiful and natural in the world. These are moments that inspire me to create. My motto is “Art Is Everywhere – Open Your Eyes”!

What is it like showing your work to people and what do you hope people take away from it?

It’s such a thrilling and exciting feeling to share my work. So when I have opportunities to exhibit It’s a way to bring people into my world and instantly make them feel they are a part of the magical creative experience.

My goal is to to tell a story… my world shared and my vision bared. Each painting has a piece of my soul and anyone who looks at my work will find a part of themselves and be drawn in instantly! A true to life connection – true to senses.

I want to spread the LOVE with my ART. Because everything I create is made with love. This powerful message of love makes that genuine connection and sparks people’s attention to inspire them, make them smile, make them happy, remind them that dreams come true and most of all that LOVE IS MAGIC!
