So we’re going to start with the difficult question: sum up your creative process in one word/phrase, and explain why!
Art, for me, is solely about expressing my love and passion. Growing up, I had a hard time expressing my true emotions to others. When I found art, I felt I had finally found a way for me to express my true self.
Were you always an artist, even as a child? What was your path to becoming an artist?
I truly found my love for art my junior year of high school because of a particular teacher that inspired me to pursue art in a professional sense. Soon after, I found my art mentor who also further inspired me to pursue art as a career path.
What is your medium of choice and what drew you to this particular medium?
I would say that I have multiple mediums of choice. Acrylic, Oil, Watercolor, Charcoal, Graphite, and many others. But I suppose watercolor is my medium of choice at the moment. Especially for the show coming up on the 18th! (Spoiler!)
Is there any particular experience, person, place or thing that inspires you to create? Tell us about that.
My mentors, and my own discovery of art as a form of therapy and expression.
What is it like showing your work to people and what do you hope people take away from it?
It is absolutely exhilarating to have people experience my work. What I hope they take away from my art is how much love and passion I put into each piece.
What advice do you have for other artists who may be looking to get their work exhibited?
Go in it loving what you do, and knowing who you are as an artist enough to express that love to others. Do not let others tell you what your art means and how valuable it is to them. Because you know what your art means and how valuable it is. BE CONFIDENT!
