Selling, Licensing, Renting + Staging Art with Ilana Greenberg

Welcome to the sixteenth episode of Smart Art Business, a podcast created to help artists thrive.

If you are reading this, you are most likely an artist that invests a lot of time, energy and resources into creating your artwork.  Over the coming months, we will be chatting with artists and industry professionals to bring you ideas and suggestions on how to refine your work, increase your sales, and broaden your audience.

In this episode, we will be discussing additional ways that artists can increase their revenue.  Artist, Ilana Greenberg has explored everything from renting her work to real-estate agents, to opening up her own gallery.

Ilana Greenberg is a painter, illustrator and graphic designer working in her beloved hometown of Brooklyn. Her abstract paintings draw inspiration from mid-century modern masters, as well as the fast-paced and ever-changing city she calls home. Ilana finds painting to be the best form of meditation and always strives for a little imperfection in all of her work. Last year, she opened her own gallery in Brooklyn, where she showcases her work as well as the art of local artists. When she isn’t painting, you can probably find Ilana hanging out with her husband and two children or taking a long walk down the beach.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Art staging as an additional revenue stream

  • Showing at cafes, salons, and, other unconventional venues for exhibiting

  • 4-day fairs v one-night pop-ups

  • Utilizing your personal network
